About the James family trust
Founded in 1982, in memory of Harold James, The Harold James Family Trust is a small, private foundation committed to funding projects in the greater Prescott community.
Overseen by Mitzie James until her death in 2007, The Harold James Family Trust focuses on causes Harold and Mitzie were passionate about, including, but not limited to: animals, ranching, children, education, healthcare, arts, religion and the Prescott Community. Though both Harold and Mitzie repeatedly declined recognition for their gifts during their lifetime, their legacy is now visible throughout the community.
Beginning in 2017, The Harold James Family Trust was designated by the IRS as a private operating foundation. The Trust operates Deep Well Ranch as a charitable entity focused on grant funded research and ranching heritage education.
Current projects include grant funded research with New Mexico State University and a partnership with The University of Arizona. Upcoming projects include school fieldtrips, lecture series and a small museum focused on Deep Well Ranch and Yavapai County ranching history.
